1. Information PageGrab processes
PageGrab accesses information from the active tab only after you invoke an extension action and only as needed for that action.
- Page text, HTML structure, headings, links, and forms
- CSS, computed styles, and layout information
- Image URLs referenced by the page
- Visible-area and full-page screenshots
- The active page URL and a saved time based on your device clock
- For the optional Japan legal pack: the exhibit number, title, creation date, author, purpose, and notes you enter
- For that pack: MHTML, scan and capture logs, and file hashes
This information is processed in the browser. PageGrab does not send, collect, or store your page text, images, analyses, screenshots, PDFs, or evidence ZIP files on a server operated by the developer.
2. Why the information is used
The information is used only to provide the action you select:
- Save page text and referenced images locally
- Analyze page structure, CTAs, headings, fonts, colors, and images
- Extract a design system or selected component
- Create visible-area PNG, full-page PNG, or A4 portrait PDF files
- Review, crop, blur, black out, annotate, and export in Capture Studio
- Create a Capture Record ZIP that separates the original, edited output, history, capture report, and SHA-256 values
- Create an optional Japan-specific evidence pack with a filing-preparation PDF and preservation data
Output files are saved through Chrome's download feature. PageGrab does not store captured content in chrome.storage or localStorage. To open Capture Studio after a full-page capture, it temporarily stores the captured image, URL, title, time, and completion state in the extension's local IndexedDB. This data is not transmitted externally.
3. External requests and third-party services
PageGrab has no proprietary backend API, advertising SDK, analytics service, crash-reporting service, or cloud account integration.
If you choose an output that includes page images, the browser may directly request image URLs referenced by the active page. The website or CDN serving those images may receive an IP address and ordinary request information, just as it would during regular browsing. PageGrab does not attach extracted page text or generated analysis to those image requests.
The timestamp guide opens third-party information pages only when you explicitly choose to open them. PageGrab never automatically sends an evidence ZIP, PDF, page text, image, MHTML, or hash to a timestamp provider.
4. How Chrome permissions are used
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
activeTab | Access the text, structure, and visible content of the current tab after you choose a PageGrab action. |
scripting | Run the selected capture or extraction process in the current tab and read the DOM and computed styles. |
downloads | Save Markdown, images, JSON, CSS, HTML, PNG, PDF, and ZIP files to your device. |
debugger | Capture content beyond the visible viewport and save MHTML. PageGrab detaches when the operation finishes or fails. |
<all_urls> | Run user-invoked capture tools on the websites you choose and retrieve referenced images for local output. It is not used to monitor browsing continuously. |
PageGrab does not request permission to access browsing history, bookmarks, cookies, passwords, or payment information.
5. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Information received from Chrome APIs is used only to provide the page capture, analysis, design-reference, component-extraction, screenshot, PDF, Capture Record, and Japan legal-pack features described in the interface.
PageGrab does not use this information for sale, advertising, credit decisions, or user profiling. Its use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. Retention and deletion
Because the developer does not receive captured data, there is no developer-side retention period. Capture Studio keeps temporary local sessions only inside the extension. When a new session is saved, sessions beyond the most recent five and sessions older than 24 hours are removed. Chrome also removes extension-local temporary data when the extension is uninstalled.
PNG, PDF, ZIP, and other files you explicitly save remain in your Downloads folder until you move or delete them.
7. Policy changes
If a future version adds a feature that changes data handling, such as a cloud function, this policy and its last-updated date will be revised before that version is published.
